Wednesday, May 11th, Hint And Solution

We are back with another entry of “what’s today’s Wordle answer?” and we have been on a string of interesting words lately, ever since the NYT skipped over “fetus” for obvious reasons and jumped a pretty far ways down the master list of answers.

Wordle doesn’t want to attract any controversy, and today’s word should not be a problem for anyone. Though I have heard it used it the context of political discussions before. You’ll see what I mean in a bit here.

An Introduction to Wordle

  • For those new to the game, read this Wordle primer before you start playing and learn about how this fad got started.
  • Then, if you want some advanced tactics to get those low guess answers, you can read the Wordle Tips and Tricks guide here.

Today’s Wordle #326 Answer And Hint

Before we go any further, I will give you a spoiler warning in case you do not actually want to know the Wordle answer today and just want a hint. As for that hint? I’m told I need to get better at these, and it’s true, but I’m once again having trouble with today’s. I guess you could describe a show like SNL like this, and no “comedy” is not five letters, so don’t even try. And remember what I said about our current political climate.

And the answer is…

Farce!

This is not a terribly common word, and when I hear it, it’s usually describing politics in some way. The official definition of farce is “a comic dramatic work using buffoonery and horseplay and typically including crude characterization and ludicrously improbable situations.” Technically, SNL is a “farce” with everything that it parodies, which distinguishes it from a more general comedy.

So, how did I get there? It was another good day for CRANE, as that got me the CRA and the E in the right place. From there, I guessed RACHE, which satisfied the criteria and I have know idea what a RACHE is, but the game accepted it. It’s apparently a “dog that hunts using scent” or “revenge” in German. Okay then! After that, I guessed CARTE which is CART with an E on the end, apparently another word. The only thing I’ve seen that in is the phrase “carte blanche” but that’s definitely not English. The game accepted it, in any case. Finally, that led me to FARCE, the correct answer.

So, how did you do today? Did you get it in 2 or give up trying?
