BOSTON — Boston Police are investigating after a teacher and student were shot outside of the TechBoston Academy in Dorchester.

The shooting took place shortly before 6 p.m. Tuesday, according to Boston police. When officers arrived on scene they found a 31-year-old man shot, as well as a 17-year-old boy shot. Both were taken to an area hospital with what police are calling “non-life threatening injuries.”

Boston Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Brenda Cassellius confirmed that the man shot is a teacher, and that the teen is a current student. Both were in the parking lot of TechBoston Academy preparing for a school event, according to Boston police.

There will be extra support staff on hand at the school tomorrow, according to Boston Mayor Michelle Wu.

TechBoston Academy will be closed tomorrow, except for those who need counseling, according to Dr. Cassellius.
