BREAKING: Man stabbed in early hours attack in Manchester city centre - latest updates from police scene as evidence markers line street

A large police scene is in place in Manchester city centre this morning following a stabbing.

A man in his 30 has been taken to hospital after being attacked on Withy Grove. His injuries are not thought to be serious or life-threatening.

Pictures from the scene show part of the street has been cordoned off and several yellow evidence markers can be seen in the road. Withy Grove is closed from the junction with High Street and Corporation Street.

Drivers are also being urged to avoid the area and there’s some disruption to public transport, although buses can still access Shudehill Interchange.

A GMP spokesperson said: “Officers were called to a report of a stabbing on Withy Grove, Manchester, at around 6.45am today.

“Emergency services attended and a man in his 30s was found with injuries and taken to hospital. His injuries are not thought to be serious or life threatening.

“A cordon is in place whilst an investigation continues and lines of enquiry are followed up.”
