LOUISA COUNTY, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) — Some area first responders will be undergoing training to address mental and physical health, wellness and resilience.

The Louisa County Fire and EMS system will be doing the first of a four-part series of workshops starting Thursday.

According to a release, this workshop series will be run by O2X Human Performance, which is a training and education company founded by former Navy SEALs.

In the course of their jobs, first responders endure physical and mental stress while working to keep their communities safe, so they need to train on keeping their bodies healthy and maintaining their mental health.

The first workshop focuses on overall health and wellness, promoting physical and mental agility and longevity.

Participants will learn about nutrition, strength training, sleep, stress management and more.

The program is being paid for by a federal grant.
