Northwest Michigan Health Services is keeping up with their work to help vaccinate rural parts of Northwest Michigan.

They say parts of the areas they service lack the resources they need to get the vaccine.

Northwest Michigan Health Services says they’ve been working with community organizations to pinpoint where the vaccines are needed.

Director of community health, Tammy Sorensen, says they’ve been in touch with local health departments and TC Connect.

They also say they’ve been calling local businesses to see if they want to get involved in their vaccine initiative.

Sorensen says, “We’ve just been calling Tom’s Market and like Olsen’s Market because they don’t have them. So those are great places to catch people, and they’re scattered through counties here. We can hit up Northport, we can go to Interlochen, we can go where ever. So that’s been some of our strategy.”

Right now, Northwest Michigan Health Services Say their cruise in Oceana and surrounding counties are working overtime to make sure vaccination rates are increasing.

They will also be offering more pop-up clinics in the next upcoming weeks.
