Gunmen Fire Over a Dozen Rounds That Struck Three Victims in Newark

Police are reporting multiple individuals injured in a shooting incident that occurred in a section of Newark this evening. 

There is a massive crime scene in the vicinity is Bergen and Avon Avenue after a gunman -armed with an automatic weapon- sprayed 20’s block of Dandridge Drive then continued to fire the weapons in the 500 block of Bergen Street just before 9 p.m. 

Officers cautiously arrived at the scene and locked the area down after finding just over 30 shell casings and a male struck by bullets at that location. 

While police investigated at the scene, officials at Beth Israel and University Hospitals reported walk-in gunshot victims. 

Police said the extent of the victims’ injuries are various at this time but at least one of the victims was shot in the head. 

The suspects fled the scene and remain at large. 

There is also a NJ Transit Bus crash in the area. The 99 bus trying to dodge flying bullets crashed at that location. 
 

Avoid the area for the investigation.
