Perch Weight Room Tech Added to More NFL, College Football Facilities
The Jacksonville Jaguars, Seattle Seahawks, Ole Miss Rebels and Georgia Bulldogs are the newest professional and college football teams to equip their exercise facilities with Perch, an AI-backed weight training platform that tracks performance during workouts. Those teams join the New York Giants, Tennessee Titans, Miami Dolphins and LSU Tigers as users of Perch.
Perch includes a 3D camera, battery pack and tablet, all attachable to weight racks via velcro straps or magnets. The setup tracks users as they lift and displays real-time data such as sets, reps and velocity. The data is accessible post-workout for coaches and athletes on the Perch app.
“What we’re doing is essentially making a weight rack smart,” Perch CEO Jacob Rothman said in a statement. “We bring them information about the quality of their movement and what they can do to move more powerfully, efficiently and safely.”
Perch was founded in 2017 by Rothman and Nate Rodman, both MIT student-athletes at the time. Perch has also been adopted by teams in MLB, the NBA and NHL, as well as various military bases, fitness facilities and high schools.
