Road remains closed after water main break in Melrose

A Melrose road remained closed Wednesday after a water main break flooded a part of the city.Video from the scene on Vinton Street showed part of the roadway buckled, with debris scattered around the area. Vinton Street is closed from Lynn Fells Parkway to Glen Road as crews work to deal with the buckled roadway. “People driving or walking to the Roosevelt School from the south will be directed to go up Sewall Woods Road to come out at the horseshoe at the back of the school. This drop-off area will be accessible. Those walking or driving to the High School/MVMMS will have full access to the Parkway, as well as sidewalks on one side of the road within the impacted area,” Melrose Mayor Paul Brodeur said. Water pressure was disrupted, but that returned to normal overnight. Residents with discolored water should run the cold water tap until the water runs clear, the city said.
