Fenerbahce defender Attila Szalai is keen on a summer move to Premier League high-flyers Leicester City, according to Blikk.

Dominik Szoboszlai’s status as the most expensive Hungarian in history may not last long.

Because, just three months after the former Salzburg talisman completed his £18 million switch to RB Leipzig, reports suggest Szalai could be on the move for an even bigger fee.

A broad-shouldered, 6ft 4in centre-half, 23-year-old Szalai is valued at £23 million by Turkish giants Fenerbahce.

Leicester are interested and, according to Blikk, the former Rapid Vienna and Apollon Limassol youngster would welcome the opportunity to hone his considerable defensive talents under Brendan Rodgers at the King Power Stadium.

Szalai has only been a Fenerbahce player for a matter of weeks.

But the eight-time international has comfortably outshone fellow winter recruit Mesut Ozil in Istanbul, helping Fener close the gap on rivals Galatasaray at the top of the table.

Interestingly, Szalai averages more passes per game than any other player in the Fenerbahce squad, boasting a completion rate of 85 per cent (WhoScored).

Given that Leicester boss Rodgers prides himself on a modern, possession-based style, it’s not hard to imagine the ball-playing Szalai fitting in nicely.

Should Leicester make a move, this granite-carved defender could be a long-term replacement for the 33-year-old – and increasingly injury-prone – Jonny Evans.
