Cardiff Bay again left under piles of rubbish after hundreds gather to party

The area around the Senedd building in Cardiff Bay was again left under a huge amount of rubbish last night after a crowd of hundreds of people gathered.

People drank, partied and sang, ignoring social distancing and coronavirus rules still in place which do not allow large gatherings — you can see the scenes here. It was described as a “massive party” and “like an illegal rave”. Images from Friday night show hundreds of people between the Senedd and Pierhead buildings.

This morning, the familiar scene of piles of rubbish, including broken bottles and gas canisters, could be seen. Cleaning teams had been out since 4.30am cleaning the mess and one said “you couldn’t see the steps” of the Senedd building when they started because they were buried under rubbish.
