Sydney flood victim named as 25-year-old Pakistani national; Victoria to resume international flight arrivals; MP Michael Johnsen resigns after sex assault allegations; ADF arrives to help in flood-stricken areas

The Mehi River recorded a major flood peak this morning of 10.4 metres after evacuation warnings were issued overnight.

The state is forecast to experience mostly benign conditions for the remainder of the week, but the bureau’s Victoria Dodds said NSW is “not out of the woods yet”.

“The heightened flood risk still remains across the state today. Conditions are still really dangerous in places,” Ms Dodds said.

“The good news is that yesterday and overnight we saw a number of locations record a flood peak and as we move into the weekend, conditions could continue to improve.”

The heavy rain will move across Norfolk Island over the weekend but conditions are unlikely to be as extreme has previous days.
