Water main break floods Route 9 in Brookline

A water main break flooded a section of Route 9 in Brookline early Monday.The break happened near 1200 Boylston St. Officials said they found three breaks, which led to flooding that covered four lanes of traffic on the busy highway. The water also spilled into nearby parking lots.By 6 a.m., they were able to shut off the valve and water quickly subsided.Route 9 was closed between Hammond Street and Hammond Pond Parkway as crews cleaned up the area.The cause of the break remains under investigation.
