Viroqua men arrested for breaking into AT&T facility

WESTBY, Wis. (WXOW) – Three individuals have been arrested for their roles in breaking into and vandalizing the AT&T communications facility in rural Westby.

According to Vernon County Sheriff John Spears, officials received reports of a possible break-in from an AT&T employee at around 12:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 2.

Upon arriving at the facility, located off of Highway 14 near Westby in the Town of Coon, officers said they discovered a damaged fence along with two Viroqua men.

Both men, Benjamin Britt, 47, and Jesse Britt, 46, were arrested. As officials continued to investigate, Sheriff Spears stated Shaila Davis, 49, from Frazee, Minnesota was also arrested.

In addition, authorities later reported a red Toyota pick-up truck with Iowa license plates was impounded. Sheriff Spears revealed the evidence discovered on the scene matches similar evidence from an earlier break-in last month on February 21 at the same facility.

Sheriff Spears stated the department continues to investigate the incident and urges community members to report any information they may have.
