MetroHealth breaking ground on $60 million project in Clark-Fulton this week

CLEVELAND — As early as Monday, crews could break ground on a $60 million mixed used project developed by The NRP Group, The MetroHealth System, and CCH Developed Corp. that would bring apartments, retail, and training space to the corner of West 25th Street and Sackett Avenue.

The apartments are going up in what’s currently a surface parking lot at MetroHealth’s West 25th Street entrance.

MetroHealth is breaking ground this week on a mixed-use residential/retail/training facility in the heart of Clark-Fulton.

The development will be called “Vía Sana,” translating to “healthy way,” and will help the community expand access to healthy food and economic opportunities.

The project will bring 72 affordable apartments. The full project will ultimately have 250 affordable and market-rate units, 36,000 square feet of retail space, and 5,000 square feet of space for the MetroHealth Economic Opportunity Center.

That center “will offer job training, financial and digital literacy training and access to Tri-C classes,” according to an email from a MetroHealth spokesperson.

The new apartments will go toward the top-left section of this overhead view near the entrance off West 25th Street.

The first work is supposed to start Monday, weather permitting. The first phase of the project could be finished in about a year.

The project is happening while MetroHealth continues its billion dollar renovation to its main campus location that will build a new 11-floor hospital anchoring an EcoDistrict nearby.
