Kamaru Usman and Gilbert Burns face off today (Sat., Feb. 13, 2021) in a main event Welterweight clash from UFC APEX in Las Vegas, Nevada at UFC 258. Though it wasn’t necessarily the high-profile battle necessary to carry an expensive pay-per-view (PPV), Usman vs. Burns was the definite fight to make for the Welterweight title, an excellent battle between dominant champion and worthy contender.

Round One
Burns presses the action early, firing kicks. Huge right from Burns briefly dropped Usman, and the two are BRAWLING! Usman is wobbly, but the champion seems to recover. Burns slipped on a high kick, and Usman spent more time recovering by kicking his foe in the legs while standing over him. Usman actually lands a serious amount of low kicks before Burns scrambles up, and the Brazilian lands a knee. Usman fires back and lands with punches. Good low kick from the champion, but Burns returns the favor. Usman ripped the mid-section with a kick. Usman puts together a good series of jabs. Burns shot is stuffed. Burns is still throwing with real power, and he connects on a good hook.
Round Two
Usman lands some stiff jabs to start the round. Heavy calf kick from Burns, but Usman does the same. Burns is very active with his kicks. Clean right hand from Burns. Stiff jab from Usman backs Burns up, then an overhand right stuns him. Burns backed into the fence, and Usman teed off, firing power punches. Usman is doing DAMAGE! Now, Usman attacks from Southpaw, but Burns seems to have his legs beneath him again. Out of nowhere, a jab drops Burns! Burns returns to his feet and finds an uppercut.
Round Three
Right handed jab drops Burns early in round three! Usman follows him to the mat and tees off, slamming home hard punches while standing over his opponent. That’s it, the fight’s over!
Result: Kamaru Usman defeats Gilbert Burns via third-round knockout
