I Ran A Stock Scan For Earnings Growth And Getac Technology (TPE:3005) Passed With Ease

What Kind Of Shareholders Hold The Majority In Sunrex Technology Corporation's (TPE:2387) Shares?

For beginners, it can seem like a good idea (and an exciting prospect) to buy a company that tells a good story to investors, even if it completely lacks a track record of revenue and profit. But as Warren Buffett has mused, ‘If you’ve been playing poker for half an hour and you still don’t know who the patsy is, you’re the patsy.’ When they buy such story stocks, investors are all too often the patsy.

So if you’re like me, you might be more interested in profitable, growing companies, like Getac Technology (TPE:3005). Now, I’m not saying that the stock is necessarily undervalued today; but I can’t shake an appreciation for the profitability of the business itself. Loss-making companies are always racing against time to reach financial sustainability, but time is often a friend of the profitable company, especially if it is growing.

Getac Technology’s Improving Profits

Even with very modest growth rates, a company will usually do well if it improves earnings per share (EPS) year after year. So it’s no surprise that some investors are more inclined to invest in profitable businesses. It’s good to see that Getac Technology’s EPS have grown from NT$3.51 to NT$4.31 over twelve months. That’s a 23% gain; respectable growth in the broader scheme of things.

Careful consideration of revenue growth and earnings before interest and taxation (EBIT) margins can help inform a view on the sustainability of the recent profit growth. Getac Technology maintained stable EBIT margins over the last year, all while growing revenue 2.7% to NT$27b. That’s progress.

Are Getac Technology Insiders Aligned With All Shareholders?

It makes me feel more secure owning shares in a company if insiders also own shares, thusly more closely aligning our interests. So it is good to see that Getac Technology insiders have a significant amount of capital invested in the stock. Indeed, they hold NT$454m worth of its stock. That’s a lot of money, and no small incentive to work hard. Despite being just 1.6% of the company, the value of that investment is enough to show insiders have plenty riding on the venture.

Does Getac Technology Deserve A Spot On Your Watchlist?

As I already mentioned, Getac Technology is a growing business, which is what I like to see. If that’s not enough on its own, there is also the rather notable levels of insider ownership. The combination sparks joy for me, so I’d consider keeping the company on a watchlist. It’s still necessary to consider the ever-present spectre of investment risk. We’ve identified 1 warning sign with Getac Technology , and understanding this should be part of your investment process.

Although Getac Technology certainly looks good to me, I would like it more if insiders were buying up shares. If you like to see insider buying, too, then this free list of growing companies that insiders are buying, could be exactly what you’re looking for.
