Mets set deadline for Trevor Bauer decision after making huge offer

The Mets have put Trevor Bauer on the clock.

The Post has learned that the Mets set a deadline of noon Eastern time Friday for Bauer, the free-agent starting pitcher, to take or leave their offer that totals between $100 million and $110 million over three years. The package features opt-outs for Bauer after both 2021 and 2022.

The proposal pays Bauer high salaries for the first two years — about $40 million each season — with a drop for 2023.

With the Mets concerned that Southern California native Bauer prefers the Dodgers, the other team in the mix for the reigning NL Cy Young winner, they felt compelled to press the right-hander for a decision one way or the other.
