All Montville Schools Going Online as Holiday Break Concludes

MONTVILLE, NJ – Superintendent of Schools Dr. René Rovtar announced that not only the middle and high school would be all online for much of January, but as the district reopens on Monday, January 4, the elementary schools will be all online as well.

Prior to the announcement, all schools were online on Wednesdays, then she announced on Dec. 12 that the middle and high schools would begin all online instruction on Dec. 14 due to the rising number of COVID cases.

Rovtar announced the change in an email to parents, and said it was due to rising COVID cases.

“In consultation with the Montville Township Health Department, I have made the determination that the Montville Township elementary schools will shift to fully remote learning for the period January 4 through January 15, 2021,” she said. “This decision was based on a rise in COVID-19 cases over the break and an expectation that the cases will continue to rise over the next two weeks. Teachers at all grade levels will continue to instruct from their respective school buildings.  We expect that by the end of the two-week period, the post-holiday surge will subside and enable students to safely return to school on January 19th.”
