The bomb squad is set to assess ‘suspicious items’ found at a property in south Manchester.

Residents have been evacuated following the discovery in Fallowfield this evening (Friday).

Police, paramedics and fire crews are at the scene.

Emergency services are stationed on Wilmslow Road, between Derby Road and Brook Road.

Some residents told the Manchester Evening News they had been evacuated from their flats on Wilmslow Road earlier in the evening.

A Greater Manchester Police spokesman said: “Police are in attendance at a property on Wilmslow Road, Fallowfield following the discovery of suspicious items within the property.

​”A property has been evacuated as a precaution while enquiries are ongoing.

​”Bomb disposal are due to make an assessment of items found within the property.

“This is believed to be an isolated incident and there is not believed to be any wider threat.”
