Welcome to this week’s Hurricane Watch where we pride ourselves on making sure every parent, student, and staff here at Mo’East is kept up to date with events and information.

Due to the high rising cases in Tennessee, it is once again recommended that high school students in Hamblen County will do optional virtual learning from January 4th through January 15th.

Students who have EOCs during this time will return to school for their tests. During the testing window, Jan. 6 – 15, learning may be asynchronous.

Teachers may post assignments for students to complete in order to be counted present. Please check with your teacher and Google Classroom for details about your specific class.

Must have a savings, checking, and debit card with name as primary member at TN Connect by December 28. Criteria may include GPA, community service, career goals, and written skills. Pick up an application in the counseling office. Winner will be awarded $1,000 and all forms must be to TNConnect Credit Union by 02/21

Jackie Robinson Scholarship

Graduating senior who shows leadership potential, demonstrates a dedication to community service, present a financial need, and have a composite ACT score of 21 or higher. To apply visit http://www.jackierobinson.org/apply.

Will be awarded up to $30,000 over 4 years, the deadline to apply in 02/21

WACE National Co-Op Scholarship Program

Eligibility: Student must have a 3.5 minimum GPA, apply for admission in the 2020-2021 academic year at the institution selected on application, meet merit criteria at specific institution. For more information visit https://www.waceinc.org/scholarship/

Ned McWherter Scholars Program

Award: $6,000 per year ($3,000 from the state and $3,000 from the university)

Eligibility: Student must attend a Tennessee college, must have a 3.5 minimum GPA, minimum composite score of 29 on the ACT or equivalent on the SAT. To Apply visit www.tn.gov/collegepays/ Click Money for College

**The Counseling Department MUST SUBMIT Your Transcript and ACT Scores by this deadline so let your counselor know by 02/11/21 if you are submitting the application.

East Tennessee Foundation Scholarship Opportunities

All scholarships are available at www.etf.org/scholarships beginning November 1st. All scholarship applications must be completed and submitted online. Deadline: 02/2021

Eligibility: applicants must be US Citizens and plan to attend an accredited college or university in the United States. All scholarships of four or more consecutive years are renewable only upon review and approval of an annual transcript by the respective NSDAR Chair. Local DAR Chapter sponsorship is not required. To obtain an application visit www.dar.org . Scroll down to the bottom of page and you will see a dark blue box “Scholarship Opportunities.”

Click and follow the prompts. ALL DAR Scholarship applications must now be compledeted in the online portal beginning August 1, 2019.

Hispanic Scholarship Fund

Award: Multiple Scholarships

Eligibility: Hispanic heritage, 3.0 GPA, apply for FAFSA
