Boulder County reports one new death, 129 new cases; public health shares vaccine plan

After taking a break from reporting coronavirus data on Dec. 25, Boulder County on Saturday reported 189 new cases.

With no new reported deaths, the death toll remains at 174 people. The county’s Public Health dashboard has logged 14,299 positive tests or probable cases to date. Two additional people were hospitalized, bringing the county’s total number of people who have been hospitalized since the pandemic began to 404.

Although the county is doing well in terms of its supply of personal protective equipment, staffing and critical and noncritical ventilators, available intensive care unit beds as well as medical and surgical unit beds are in the red zone. There are 18 ICU beds and 105 medical and surgical beds available, according to the data from Boulder County Public Health.

The county reported that new cases of COVID-19 among Boulder County residents in the past two weeks is 388.5 per 100,000. Although that’s down from November when the state and county tightened restrictions, Boulder County remains at Level Red, which indicates severe risk.
