The Day - Car thefts, break-ins continue to plague police in East Lyme, elsewhere in region


Police were investigating three vehicle break-ins that happened early Tuesday morning in the City of Groton.

The first two break-ins happened about 4:45 a.m. on Virginia Avenue. Nothing was stolen from either vehicle, according to the City of Groton Police Department.

At 7:18 a.m., police responded to a 911 call about another break-in. The caller told police that their cell phone had been stolen from their vehicle on Fort Street, police said.

Police were still investigating the break-ins and no further information was available.
