Penn State Updates Winter Break Student Support, Coronavirus Testing Hours

Penn State updated its availability of walk-up and mail-in coronavirus testing, campus health services, and more in preparation for winter break.

Walk-up testing at Hintz Family Alumni Center will be closed on December 25, December 28, and January 1. Outside those days, testing is available for on-campus students, off-campus students, and employees from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.

Contact tracing for affected individuals will continue over winter break, however.

Mail-in testing for Commonwealth Campuses will be available December 24 through January 3.

The COVID-19 Response Center will be available for students, families, faculty, and staff under the following schedule:

  • December 24: 12 p.m. to 2 p.m.
  • December 25: Closed
  • December 26: 12 p.m. to 2 p.m.
  • December 27: Closed
  • December 28-31: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • January 1: Closed
  • January 2: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • January 3: Closed

The call center will resume regular hours beginning on January 4, and will be open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays.

University Health Services will be open from December 21 to December 23, and the nurse advice line will continue to be available 24/7 for students. Testing appointments at UHS will be available from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on December 28 and December 31. Regular operating hours will resume from January 4 to January 8.

Counseling and Psychological Services will operate regularly from December 21 to December 23. The 24/7 crisis line will continue to be available over break. CAPS will resume normal operations on January 4.

Student Support Services will continue to be provided over break as needed. Residence Life will be on call to respond to students. Quarantine and isolation space will still be provided to students as needed.

Additionally, students living on campus must continue their weekly coronavirus testing. Those in the dorms are required to get tested at least once per week.
