Geneva County Sheriff’s Office reports several car break ins over the weekend

DOTHAN, Ala. (WTVY) – Over the weekend there were multiple cars broken into in Geneva County.

Several people woke up to their vehicles doors open and items missing.

Geneva County Sheriff Tony Helms said they started receiving calls Friday morning. A total of six cars were broken into on Azalea Road and Fern Road.

The biggest item stolen, a gun. Some other items that were taken included change and a charger. Some vehicles even had the keys in their car, luckily the vehicle itself was not stolen.

Sheriff Helms said these break ins happened the same night but they are not sure if they are connected.

“Even in your own yard, you need to lock your car,” Sheriff Helms said. “You need to take valuable items in and out. You don’t need to leave them in there, it becomes as an attractant to people. People can very easily slide in your yard at night, obviously in these particular instances, went through the vehicles and weren’t even seen or heard. “

There are no suspects at the moment.
