BREAKING: Police out in force as 'lockdown rave' caught on Snapchat - latest updates

Police are out in force following reports of a ‘rave’ in Wigan.

Snapchat videos show people dancing to thumping music in Astley late on Saturday night.

Footage, captioned ‘lockdown rave’, on the social media platform shows a long line of police vehicles stationed nearby.

Videos show people gathered on land west of Rindle Road and north of Astley Road.

The patch of land is not far from Glazebury, Warrington, over the border.

Lately Common is to the north.

There are reports of police helicopters circling the area. A number of roads are reported to have been closed.

It comes hours after Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced a national lockdown will be enforced from Thursday.

Currently, Greater Manchester is under ‘Tier 3’ instructions.

Gatherings of more than six people are banned.
