Burglar stabs man in Syracuse after breaking into home in the Valley

Syracuse, N.Y. — A man was stabbed late Thursday night by a burglar who broke into his Syracuse home.

A 33-year-old man was sleeping when a burglar slipped into his house in the 300 block of Monticello Drive North, said Sgt. Matthew Malinowski, Syracuse Police Department spokesman. The burglary happened around 11:50 p.m.

After he was jolted awake, the resident confronted the burglar, Malinowski said. The burglar attacked, he said, and stabbed the man multiple times.

The unknown suspect then fled from the scene.

The wounded man was transported to Upstate University Hospital. His condition was not immediately released.

Police have asked anyone with information about the stabbing to call (315) 442-5222.
