BREAKING: One person dead, suspect still at large in Rockmart shooting | Local

Police are searching for a man who is accused of killing a person in a shooting north of Rockmart on Sunday night. 

Polk County Police have obtained warrants for Jimmy Brian Blackmon, who detectives say fled the scene of shooting on Rice Road. 

Blackmon is a white male and was last seen heading towards Bartow County driving a black 2015 GMC Sierra with Georgia tag RVN1626. 

Detective Caleb Bowman said Blackmon is presumed to be armed and dangerous. If anyone comes into contact with him, do not approach and call 911 immediately. 

Area law enforcement agencies in the surrounding counties have been notified and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation is assisting in the investigation. 

The name and identity of the victim has not been released. Preliminary information indicated there was a domestic dispute that led to the shooting.

Polk County Police were assisted on the scene by several local agencies, including Rockmart Police, Aragon Police, Redmond EMS and the Rockmart Fire Department.

Polk County Police are investigating a shooting Sunday night at a residence on Rice Road just north of Rockmart that left one person dead and the suspect at large, according to Chief Kenny Dodd.

Dodd said preliminary information indicated there was a domestic dispute that led to the shooting. The name of the victim and suspect are not being released at the moment. 

Detectives are still on the scene. Officers on the scene said the shooting occurred between 8 and 9 p.m. 

Rice Road is just off of Ga. Highway 113 about a mile and a half north of Rockmart High School.
