NCET helps you explores business and technology.

What do track-and-trace software, Dirty Wookie, panty subscriptions, cybersecurity and salumi have in common? They’re all products or services offered by the organizations that won the 2020 NCET and EDAWN Awards.

One of the many things I love about working at NCET is getting to meet the incredible people and companies who drive our vibrant and diverse business and technology community. One of the ways I discover them is through these annual awards.

The NCET Tech Awards — now in their 13th year — celebrate the Northern Nevada individuals and companies who have greatly enhanced the growth and prestige of our technology community, while the EDAWN Awards recognize the people and resources that have played an integral part in contributing to the growth of our entrepreneurial community.

For the first time in NCET Tech Awards history, women and women-owned businesses make up half of this year’s award winners! From academic professionals to artificial intelligence operators, these women represent the great technological landscape in Northern Nevada. Please join me in a special congratulations for each of these women and women-owned businesses!

Now, getting back to drones and Dirty Wookie, here are just a few of this year’s award-winning companies and organizations:

  • rfxcel Corporation helps manage company supply chains to protect products and brand reputations with the most tenured track-and-trace software in the life sciences market. (www.rfxcel.com)
  • Panty Drop is a technology company that delivers a personalized intimates shopping experience for women of all sizes. (www.pantydrop.me)
  • PacStates represents multiple solutions for IT Security, cybersecurity, networks, Telco and internet services and much, much more. (www.pacstatesnv.com)
  • Full Tilt Logistics & Transportation provides trucking, freight brokerage and warehousing and distribution services both here in the Reno-Sparks area as well as nationwide. (www.fulltiltlogistics.com)
  • Dirty Wookie is a brown ale brewed in Reno by The Brewer’s Cabinet. Other brews include Dragon Punch, Blind Duck and seasonal beers like Oktoberfest and Imperial Stout. (www.thebrewerscabinet.com)
  • Liberty Artisan Meats is a USDA-inspected artisan butcher shop that started producing in 2014 and now makes a wide range of classic charcuterie, sausages, cured meats — and salumi. (www.libertyfoodandwine.com)
  • Iris Automation is a drone technology and safety avionics company building a Computer Vision-based Detect-and-Avoid system that gives drones situational awareness of flight environments as if a pilot were onboard. (www.irisonboard.com)
  • The Society of Women Engineers includes members in engineering/technical disciplines and non-technical professionals who promote engineering awareness and advancement of math and science fields locally. (http://sns.swe.org)

NCET and EDAWN will honor each of these companies and organizations along with all the other winners at the NCET Tech Showcase at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 21 in a hybrid event originating at the Reno-Sparks Convention Center.
