Mangaluru: Use of technology - Police arrest mobile phone thieves within 105 minutes of theft

Mangaluru, Sep 27: City police cracked a mobile theft case within 105 minutes of the theft taking place. This was possible due to the use of technology. Cops have confiscated 11 mobiles that were stolen by the thieves.

The said mobiles were stolen when the constructions workers were sleeping in the afternoon on an under-construction building at Karangalpady. The workers had filed a complaint at 5 pm on Saturday with the police.

The team of police, comprising of Govindraju B, inspector of Mangaluru north station, sub inspectors Gurukanti and Nagaraj, head constables Bharath and Valentine D’Souza and constable Tipparaddeppa, sprung into action quickly and arrested three accused at 6.45 pm from a lodge in the town.

The arrested are identified as Mohammed Sarfraz, Mohammed Suhail and Mohammed Safwan. Two cases of theft are already registered against Mohammed Safwan. Two bikes are also confiscated from the accused, the ownership of which is also being investigated. This information was provided by city police commissioner Vikash Kumar.

The city police commissioner lauded the effort of inspector Govindraju and team who busted the case within short time. He also said that the team used technology and crime detection skills to reach to the culprits quickly.
