Suspect in custody after party store break-in - News - Holland Sentinel

HOLLAND TWP. — A suspect is in police custody following a breaking and entering at a party store late Wednesday, Sept. 23.

Deputies with the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office responded at 11:30 p.m. Wednesday to a report of a breaking and entering at Repete’s Party Store, 12719 Riley Street.

Police say a single suspect approached the closed business and used a rock to break the glass door and enter the business.

Employees, who were exiting the back of the store after closing the business, heard the breaking glass and proceeded to the front to confront the suspect.

The suspect dropped the liquor and cigarettes he stole and fled the area on foot.

A crime scene technician and a K-9 unit responded to the scene while other deputies in the area searched for the suspect. Video of the suspect was quickly obtained by police and distributed to other deputies.

A deputy located the subject on a nearby street and took him into custody without incident. The suspect was lodged at the Ottawa County Jail following treatment for minor injuries he sustained breaking the store’s glass door.

The suspect’s identity is being withheld pending arraignment.
