LPD: Man arrested after breaking into vehicles in church lot

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Lincoln Police place a man in custody when he arrived at court for separate charges.

Wednesday morning, around 10, Lincoln Police responded to the parking lot of Westminster Church, 2110 Sheridan Blvd., on a larceny call.

There they contacted two female victims, a 43-year-old and a 39-year-old, and one witness.

The witness reported seeing a 54-year-old man, identified as Logan Johnson, walking away from a vehicle that had broken out windows and a blaring car alarm.

The witness also noted at least one other vehicle with broken windows.

One victim suffered a total loss of a hundred dollars after a backpack and spare were taken from their vehicle. The second victim only suffered an attempted theft with several smashed windows.

Reportedly, Johnson left the scene in a silver sedan. Officers said the witness had noted the license plate and that Johnson left alone.

Officers located this vehicle at it’s registered address in the 600 block of South 28th Street. There they made contact with the registered owner, who confirmed Johnson was in possession of the vehicle.

Lincoln Police contacted Johson at the Hall of Justice after learning he had a set court date as he had been previously arrested for theft, criminal mischief, false reporting, drug possession. There, Johnson was taken into custody and lodged for two counts of theft by unlawful taking – 3rd offense.
