Residents in the eastern part of Ventura are under a boil water order after a water main line break disrupted service to the area, officials said Wednesday night.
The line break occurred around 9:30 a.m. along Telephone Road. The line break caused a loss of water pressure, which led to a lack of water service in the area of Saticoy and Wells Road.
As a precautionary measure, officials are asking those within the impacted area to boil tap water or use bottled water for cooking and drinking. The boil water order applies to businesses and residences south of Highway 126, west of Campanula Avenue, east of Wells Road and north of the Santa Clara River.

The order is expected to be in place for the next 48-72 hours upon the restoration of water service. Residents and businesses will be notified once officials determine the water is safe to drink and cook without boiling first. Those outside the advisory area do not have to take any action, officials said.
