4 ‘Good Samaritans’ stabbed breaking up domestic dispute at Boogie Bottoms in Blount County

A man is behind bars after authorities say he assaulted at least four people during a domestic incident over the weekend at Boogie Bottoms.

Sheriff’s deputies responded about 1 p.m. Saturday to the Locust Fork campground on a report of multiple people stabbed or cut. According to witnesses and court records, 52-year-old Dillard Compton’s ex-wife was at the site and then Compton showed up.

He began following her around and harassing her, charging documents state. Shortly after 11 p.m., the ex-wife was on a golf cart when Compton grabbed her by the hair.

At that point, four people stepped into help her. Compton then pulled a knife and “slashed/stabbed all four Good Samaritans,” sheriff’s officials. Compton fled the scene on a motorcycle, heading back to his home in Lawrence County.

Family members told investigators Compton was possibly suicidal due to recent social media posts he’d made. Ultimately, sheriff’s investigators obtained warrants from the Blount County District Attorney’s Office against Compton – three counts of attempted murder and one count of second-degree assault.

Compton is being held without bond in the Blount County Correctional Facility.
