Lakers vs. Trail Blazers score: Live NBA playoff updates as LeBron, Los Angeles try to oust Portland in Game 5

The Blazers may be missing their best player in Damian Lillard, but they aren’t playing like it. Portland has the No. 1 seeded Lakers, who have beaten them three times in a row, tied at 68 through two quarters of action so far. The Blazers have gotten 39 points from Carmelo Anthony and C.J. McCollum in Lillard’s stead, but the Lakers aren’t doing themselves any favors with their defensive effort. If they don’t want to play again on Monday, they’ll hit the gas pedal in the second half.

They’ve managed to stay alive thanks, as usual, to their two superstars. LeBron James scored 24 points on 10-of-13 shooting in the first half while Anthony Davis chipped in 12 more points of his own. Even on (yet another) poor shooting night, the Lakers have proven able to put points on the board by attacking the basket at will. That will be their formula if they plan to win a championship, and it has worked well for them offensively tonight.
