Police break up ‘disorderly crowd’ at UC Medical Center following shooting that leaves 1 dead

The recent surge of gun violence continues in Cincinnati Monday after more than a dozen shots were fired and a woman was killed, leading to a chaotic scene at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center.Police said just before 10 p.m., ShotSpotter alerted officers that about 15 shots were fired in the area of Burnet and Rockdale avenues in Avondale. Shortly after the shots were fired, a 27-year-old woman was taken to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center by a private car. Police said 20 to 25 individuals also showed up at the hospital and tired to force their way into the emergency room.Officers called the scene a “disorderly crowd.” Additional officers were called to the hospital for assistance, where they were able to get the crowd to disperse and leave the hospital.The woman who was shot was rushed into treatment, where she was initially listed in critical condition. Police confirmed late Monday that the woman had died at the hospital.Officers are holding the vehicle that was used to take the woman to the hospital for evidence.Police said they do not have any suspect information at this time.WLWT will update this story when more information is available.
