SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4 News) – A huge police presence in downtown Salt Lake City this morning where there’s been an apparent deadly officer-involved shooting.
Details are still emerging but the incident occurred near 500 South and 500 East.
Detective Greg Wilking of the Salt Lake Police Department told ABC4 News preliminary information from the investigation that two men were involved in a knife fight. One man became the hostage of the other.
Police approached the hostage situation to intervene.
Two officers opened fire and one 34-year old man is dead, the other is being questioned.
Neither officer was hurt.
