An 18-year-old male is in stable condition at Upstate Medical Center after being shot late last night during an altercation on Central Avenue in the city of Cortland.
His shooter is still at-large.
City Police Lt. Michael Strangeway says officers responded just before 1 am to the area of 60 Central Avenue, where they rendered first aid to the victim until TLC ambulance and Cortland Fire personnel arrived.
Investigation has so far revealed that several shots were fired in the roadway on Church Street near the intersection of Central Avenue, which reportedly erupted following – and in response to – a fight that occurred earlier in the evening at a city residence.
No other injuries were reported.
At this time, no arrests have been made and the city police are continuing their investigation.
