Update: One injured non-critically in shooting on Ridge Drive in DeKalb Thursday night

DeKALB – DeKalb police are investigating a shooting which occurred around 7:30 p.m. in the 800 block of Ridge Drive and injured one, though the wound was not serious said DeKalb Acting Police Chief Bob Redel Thursday night.

“We do have one victim that was shot,” Redel said. “It’s a graze wound. The victim’s not even going to the hospital.”

Redel said no arrests have been made yet but investigators believe the victim may have been targeted.

According to a citywide alert sent around that time Thursday evening, police are asking residents to avoid the area.

The front door of the Hunter Ridgebrook apartment complex where the shooting took place was shattered, and police could be seen conducting an investigation in the area around 8 p.m. Thursday.

Police from Northern Illinois University were also on scene, along with an ambulance from the DeKalb Fire Department.

This is a developing story which will be updated as more information becomes available.
