Employee at local correctional center tests positive for COVID-19

WELCH, W.Va. (WVVA) – An employee at Stevens Correctional Center in McDowell County tested positive for the coronavirus on July 10.

Their last day at the facility was July 4.

The employee tested positive on July 10.

They are quarantining at home, and cannot return to the facility until cleared, post-recovery, by health officials.

There have been no other positive cases at this facility, however it is unclear if all inmates are being tested.

In May, almost two months ago, the governor ordered all corrections facility inmates and employees to be tested for COVID-19 statewide.
