BREAKING: Two dead after 'serious accident' involving two vehicles in Salford

Police have taped off a road in Salford after a ‘serious accident’ involving two vehicles is understood to have left two people dead.

Officers were called to the scene at around 7.07am this morning to reports of a crash in Bolton Road in Swinton, near to the Windmill Hotel. Ambulances were also in attendance.

Greater Manchester Police are yet to comment but the Manchester Evening News understands that two people have died as a result of the crash and another has been taken to hospital for medical treatment.

Sources say the patient taken to hospital has serious injuries, but is now in a stable condition.



Police have closed the road in Swinton

Police have cordoned off the road from the Newtown Post Office to The Social Club in Pendlebury.

Two smashed cars, including a taxi, are still in the road, say eyewitnesses at the scene.

A cordon remains in place with police cars in the street and investigations are understood to be underway.

Greater Manchester Police and North West Ambulance Service have been contacted for comment.
