FCA Sterling Heights Assembly Plant worker stabbed during lunch break

STERLING HEIGHTS, Mich. – A worker from FCA’s Sterling Heights Assembly Plant was stabbed during a fight with a co-worker late Monday night.

Workers leaving the plant after their shift told Local 4 the fight stemmed from an altercation that began last week and continued Monday. The two workers were arguing when one stabbed the other during a lunch break. The victim was listed in critical condition.

Original information indicated the stabbing happened near RJ’s Bar and Grill, which is adjacent to the plant. However, workers later clarified it happened on the plant property.

Sterling Heights police officers arrived at the scene quickly and went to various areas of the property, looking for the suspect who ran away after the stabbing. As of Tuesday morning, it’s unclear if that suspect has been found.

In responding to a request for more information, a FCA spokeswoman sent an e-mail to Local 4 reading, “There was an altercation between two employees outside the Sterling Heights Assembly Plant tonight, resulting in one employee being stabbed. The employee was taken to the hospital for further treatment. The incident is being investigated by the Sterling Heights Police Department.”
