Vogue Australia initiative pushing for more women in technology

In 2020, Vogue Australia launched an all new virtual series, ‘Vogue Codes’, featuring local and international speakers to encourage female innovation, which Vogue Australia Editor-in-Chief Edwina McCann discussed with Sky News.

In Australia and around the globe, women are underrepresented in science, technology, engineering, arts and math fields.

“The data was just atrocious, the number of young women who were engaged in ‘STEAM’ education were really poor,” Ms McCann told Sky News.

“We decided that we should leverage the Vogue brand to attract more women into areas of technology and consider a career in technology,” she said.

‘STEAM’ education refers to an approach towards learning that is focused on Science, Technology, Engineering, The Arts and Mathematics.
