Breaking news: Fatal fire rips through Paisley flat

Police are investigating a fatal fire in Paisley’s Gallowhill area.

The blaze ripped through the first floor flat on Renfrew Road at around 9pm when six fire crews were called to the scene.

It has since been confirmed that one or more people have died.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: “Police Scotland and the Scottish Fire and Rescue service are in the initial stages of investigating a fatal fire that occurred at an address on Renfrew Road, Paisley, around 9pm on Friday, June 19.



At least one person is known to have died

“Enquiries are ongoing and anyone who has any information surrounding the incident is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101.”

The burnt-out property, across from Abbotsinch Retail Park, currently remains under police guard.

A spokeswoman for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service added: “We were called at 9pm on June 19 to reports of a dwelling on fire in Paisley.

“Operation control mobilised six appliances to the town’s Renfrew Road where firefighters were met by a well-developed fire within a first floor property.

“Fire fighters remain at the scene.”
