Black Lives Matter Protest Underway in Windsor

A black lives matter protest is underway in downtown Windsor.

As of 3:30 p.m. more than 100 people have gathered in the intersection of Riverside Drive and Ouellette Avenue to protest police brutality.

Similar protests have spread throughout the U.S. after George Floyd was killed while being arrested by police in Minneapolis on May 25.

A protest in Ottawa yesterday was attended by Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

Windsor Police Service says they are aware of the gathering and there have been no issues reported in relation to the protest.

More to come.
