Water main break knocks out service in much of Holyoke

HOLYOKE — A water main break on Beech Street Tuesday afternoon knocked out service to a wide swath of the city.

“There’s a water main break on Beech Street which is causing low pressure or no water throughout a good part of the city,” Mayor Alex B. Morse wrote in a Facebook post around 5:45 p.m. “I’m in touch with the Water Department and will have more information as I get it. We should get the area isolated and pressure restored within the hour, expect repairs to run through the evening into the morning.”

Residents in neighborhoods around the city posted to a Facebook group saying they had no water.

Some areas, including parts of the Bemis Heights neighborhood, did not lose service.
