London protests: 19 arrested for deliberately breaking social distancing guidelines, World News

A small group of protestors gathered in London’s Hyde Park to protest against the government’s way of handling the coronavirus pandemic.

The protestors were seen deliberately breaking all rules of social distancing. The group of people do not agree with the rules and guidelines that the UK government has set for people, to contain the wide spread of coronavirus.

“It was disappointing that a relatively small group in Hyde Park came together to protest the regulations in clear breach of the guidance, putting themselves and others at risk of infection,” Laurence Taylor, Deputy Assistant Commissioner at the Metropolitan Police, said in a statement.

“Officers once again, took a measured approach and tried to engage the group to disperse. They clearly had no intention of doing so, and so it did result in 19 people being arrested, and a further ten being issued with a fixed penalty notice.”

The anti-lockdown protests took place few days after UK’s Prime Minister eased some restrictions about lockdown in the UK. He stated that people could go out to parks and to socialize, but social distancing guidelines had to be followed.

UK has nearly 240,000 confirmed positive coronavirus cases, including 34,466 deaths.
