Bergen County's Positive Coronavirus Cases Break 17K

TRENTON, NJ – Governor Phil Murphy reviewed the newest number of presumptive positive cases of novel coronavirus and deaths at his Monday press conference, where he stressed that the number of cases and patients is dropping.

There are 1,453 new cases with 59 new deaths. Statewide, there are 139,945 positive cases and 9,310 deaths. 

Bergen County Executive James Tedesco announced that there are 17,060 presumptive positive cases in the county as of 12 noon Monday. For the second straight day, both Hasbrouck Heights and Wood-Ridge’s cases remain unchanged from Sunday, while Teterboro has 6 cases. Hackensack has 1,229 positive cases, according to Tedesco.

Bergen County continues to lead the state in cases with 17,028, and followed by Hudson (16,936), Essex (15,602), Passaic (14,645), Union (14,164), with 729 under investigation.  There are a total of 1,355 deaths in Bergen County, while Essex County continues to lead the state with 1,423.

As of 10 p.m. Sunday, there were 4,195 people hospitalized with COVID-19 or under investigation, with 1,255 patients in ICU or critical care, and 970 patients on ventilators, the second straight day under one thousand, according to Murphy. Patient discharges (227) continued to outpace new admissions (179.)
