Westbrook Health Services receives grant funding | News, Sports, Jobs

PARKERSBURG — Westbrook Health Services announced Friday it has received a $400,000 per year grant for up to five years from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration.

The grant is part of a $52 million effort provided by the administration for its Treatment for Individuals Experiencing Homelessness Program.

Westbrook has recently expanded efforts to assist with the rising homeless population in the Mid-Ohio Valley through working with city and state officials. The Connections Program that will be funded by the grant is a collaborative community-wide effort to help the homeless get back on their feet. Individuals will receive the housing, behavioral health, vocational and work readiness and recovery support services they need so they can securely and successfully live, work, and play in their communities.

“We are excited for the opportunity to be able to use this grant to expand much needed services to the homeless population of Wood County,” Westbrook President and CEO Kevin Trippett said “Our goal is to help individuals get the services they need to be able to return to the workforce and obtain permanent housing.”

Westbrook’s Connections Program will partner with other organizations in the area to achieve the greatest success. The organizations include the Parkersburg Housing Authority, Latrobe Street Mission, Consumer Credit Counseling Service, Family Crisis Intervention Center, Jobs and Hope West Virginia, the Parkersburg Police Department, Circles, Children’s Home Society, and the Coalition to End Homelessness.
