Gigi Hadid reveals she hurt her arm while practicing for virtual tennis match with Serena Williams

Gigi Hadid is one competitive lady.

The model just revealed that she actually ‘pulled’ her arm muscle while trying to get ready for a virtual tennis match with pal Serena Williams.

Gigi, who just announced she is expecting a child, talked to Jimmy Fallon via video chat about the injury, admitting: ‘I’ve been practicing a lot because if anyone’s more competitive than me it’s Serena.’

‘And, like, I cannot, like, lose our friendship over [this], you know what I mean?’ she joked. 

But the girlfriend of Zayn Malik may have gone too far with her training.

‘We’re playing controller version but the first night I played, I practiced on swing mode and fully pulled my entire arm. Like, the next day, I couldn’t lift my arm. I couldn’t do anything.’

Gigi and Serena will play as a doubles team during the upcoming Mario Tennis Aces tournament, hosted by IMG modeling agency for the charity Feeding America. 

Also joining the charity game are Hailey Bieber and Naomi Osaka, Karlie Kloss and Maria Sharapova and Venus Williams and DeAndre Hopkins.

During the interview the model also publicly spoke about her pregnancy for the first time.

Responding to Jimmy’s ‘Congratulations, she said: ‘Thank you so much!’

‘Obviously we wish we could have announced it on our own terms, but we’re very excited and happy and grateful for everyone’s well wishes and support.’ 

A father of two, Jimmy advised Gigi to savor the moment. 

Gigi was appreciative she was able to fully experience her pregnancy, now that she’s forced to stay indoors due to quarantine.   

‘I’m trying, and especially during this time, it’s a nice silver lining to be able to be home and together and really experience it day by day,’ Gigi replied. 

Gigi also revealed she had been craving everything bagels during her pregnancy, and had been having one everyday.  

Speaking of her 25th birthday, which she spent with family on her mother Yolanda Foster’s Pennsylvania farm, she said she was delighted to have a birthday bagel cake on her special day. 

‘We did a breakfast party of like a few people, and then a dinner party of the same few people, so we tried to make it a day. 

‘But yeah, in the morning, my family brought out an ‘everything bagel cake’, which already blew my mind because my craving has been everything bagels. I eat an everything bagel everyday, so I was already so excited that my birthday cake was an everything bagel.’  

Gigi also said she cried for an hour after learning the cake was made by Buddy Valastro of Cake Boss.

The model said she wasn’t sure whether to attribute the tears to her hormones or the pressure of being under quarantine.   

‘I don’t know if it was my hormones right now or just like quarantine emotionalness, I cried every five minutes for like an hour every time I thought about that Buddy made my cake. 

‘I couldn’t stop crying… from happiness. I was so honored that he would make me a cake during quarantine.’ 

Gigi is five months pregnant with her and Zayn’s first child – a baby girl, according to TMZ.

Her mother Yolanda confirmed the pregnancy on Wednesday and admitted to being ‘still shocked’ over it, but said: ‘Of course we are so excited. I’m so excited to become a grandmother in September especially after I lost my mom so recently.’ she told Dutch broadcasting station RTL Boulevard.

The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum added: ‘But this is the beauty of life, one soul leaves us and a new one comes in. We feel very blessed. I can’t wait to be a grandmother.’ 

Gigi, who has been dating Zayn on-off since 2015, previously envisioned herself becoming a mother. 

‘I think that as I get older – well, one day I’ll start a family and I don’t know if I will always be modeling,’ she told i-D magazine in February. 

Adding: ‘I love the creative side of fashion, it’s so fulfilling. The people I work with make me so happy, I’m so lucky to be around them. But who knows? Maybe I’ll take up full-time cooking!’ 

Eagle-eyed fans had questioned whether her 25th birthday might also have been a gender reveal party as her silver balloons had both pink and blue ribbons.

Her sister Bella also shared pictures of blue Baby Shark and a pink ‘Hello Little One’ gift bag which were given to her on the day. 

Gigi has appeared to be taking all the proper pregnancy precautions, when she took to Instagram to show off the vodka-free pasta dish she conjured up for dinner. 

‘Yummy [and] easy spicy vodka sauce, but have no vodka… so without, but still gooood,’ captioned Hadid.

In the snapshot – seen by Hadid’s nearly 53million followers – there were two plates filled to the brim with noodles and topped with a generous amount of parmesan cheese.   

Hadid was generous enough to provide fans with a step-by-step demonstration as to how she created the delectable pasta dish from scratch. 

‘Recipe for two tonight,’ wrote Gigi, who many presumed was crafting a plate for beau Zayn. 

Dua Lipa has now revealed her excitement ahead of becoming an ‘auntie’ to Gigi Hadid and Zayn Malik’s baby.

The singer, 24, who is dating Gigi’s brother Anwar, 20, gushed about the happy news after the model confirmed she is five months pregnant with her first child.

While making an appearance on New Zealand radio station The Edge, Dua was asked: ‘Technically, you’re going to be an auntie?’

‘Yeah,’ the star confirmed. ‘It’s very exciting news. We’re very, very excited.’

The host responded: ‘It’s going to be one hell of a baby shower you, Zayn, the Weeknd (Gigi’s sister Bella Hadid’s boyfriend). How long have you been sitting on this secret?’

Playing coy, Dua laughed and said: ‘Ah you guys are really putting me in a… not long! not long!’

After being pressed, the New Rules star admitted she knew about the pregnancy ‘a little bit’ before it was confirmed on Wednesday.
