Car break-in suspects caught in the act, lead Upstate deputies on chase

Two people are in custody in connection with an attempted car break-in that led to a chase involving Greenville County deputies, officials said. The incident started just before 4 p.m. Saturday in the parking lot of Jersey Mikes, located on South Batesville Road in Greer.Deputies said the victim confronted the suspects, after which they said one of the suspects reportedly fired at the victim. However, deputies said the victim was not shot.Investigators said the suspects then drove away from the scene and a chase ensued. The chase went southbound on I-85 when the suspects exited off Woodruff Road, officials said. Deputies said the suspects wrecked near the Racetrack convenience store and they were subsequently arrested. No deputies were hurt, according to the Sheriff’s Office. During the chase, deputies said at least one other vehicle was struck by the suspects. South Carolina Highway Patrol has been asked to work the accident, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
